Current and Recent Projects
Current - Development and implementation of a comprehensive production management and quality control system for an established roasting company upgrading their operation to specialty coffee standards. The project includes a complete evaluation of the current business strategy and manufacturing process, development of an upgraded manufacturing control system, review of all roast profiles and blend recipes, and implementation of a comprehensive quality control system.
Current – Facilitating the development of a long term expansion strategy for a family owned regional roasting company.
Current - Working with an emerging coffee café company to raise capital for domestic and international expansion and the development of an international expansion plan.
Sept 2011 – Feb 2014 - Developed, launched and managed a New York City based coffee brand/company focused on sustainable sourcing through direct trade with coffee producers. “Grace Hightower & Coffees of Rwanda”, owned by Robert DeNiro and Grace Hightower DeNiro, launched in 2013 at Whole Foods Markets in the Northeast. SCC was engaged to evaluate the DeNiro’s initial idea, develop the concept, and create the business and operating plan.
SCC was further contracted to launch and oversee the initial phase of operations. SCC directly sourced all the coffee, developed the blends and roast profiles, and managed all roasting, packaging, and distribution of the product. SCC was responsible for the management of the marketing/branding, PR and e-commerce development resources and was responsible for the sales, customer service and quality control for the company.
May 2008 - Sept 2011 - SCC designed and oversaw the construction and implementation of a large scale coffee roasting factory for BR Korea (owner of Dunkin’ Donuts and Baskin Robbins in Korea). SCC created a turn key green coffee sourcing, roasting, and packaging operation for Dunkin’ Korea and trained the operating staff on all aspects of coffee sourcing, roasting and packaging. SCC directly sourced over 3 million pounds of coffee over the first 3 years of operations from multiple producing countries. 2010 - Developed a “Cold Brew” coffee program for Baskin & Robbins Korea.
2010 - 2011 – Developed a full café concept for Paris Baguette Korea (a sister company of BR Korea) and provided green coffee sourcing strategy and support.
2008 - 2014 - SCC continues to provide top level strategic support and green coffee market analysis to Dunkin’ Korea.
